Do you lead a busy life often filled with stress?
Taking a few moments at the end of your day helps your body relax and that hamster wheel of stressful thoughts in your mind to slow down or stop. Here are my favorite ways to clear my day:
Before I leave work I imagine giant shower heads on the ceiling of my office-I flip a switch and beautiful purple and white sparkling light pour out ,washing over me; and everything in my space. The light saturates my whole body, washing away stress and fatigue. The light clears away anyone else’s energy or thoughts, leaving just me, sparkling clean.
I take 3 very deep, very slow breaths. As I am breathing I feel gratitude for the work I did today and for all those who worked with me. Your Vagus Nerve – an amazing nerve which runs from your brain through the base of your skull down to your diaphragm and influences/controls many functions in your body, including your FIGHT FLIGHT FREEZE trigger – responds in a calming way to gentle traction. When you take a slow, deep breath, moving your diaphragm down enough to traction this nerve, you get tremendous calming.
Then, when I get home I take a shower or bath, just to physically wash away the day. Even a 2-3 minute shower can make a powerful difference in how you feel. If I am headed out for a meeting or dinner and cannot shower, a warm washcloth scented with lavender oil is effective. I have a nice organically grown essential oil lavender spray so come by and pick some up if you’d like!
I hope these techniques work for you, helping you to stay calm and centered.
